The 124th Annual Assembly and Exhibition took place on Saturday 20th May at Pontefract Town Hall.

2023 was a record year with 3797 entries submitted by 396 members of 47 clubs.

200 print entries and 240 PDI entries were selected for the exhibition and catalogue.

To quote Richard Littlefair, President of the YPU, “to have an image accepted for the Exhibition is quite an accolade”.

Eleven members of Selby Camera Club submitted some 80 plus images some of which were accepted and achieved awards.

Congratulations go to Neville Turton who was presented with Fred Atkinson Trophy for his entry in PDI Travel plus two certificates for his prints in the Nature category.

Robert Helliwell had one image accepted in the Open Colour Print Category.

In the PDI’s Stuart Campbell, Nick Dunn, Sue Leach, Dennis Steel and Neville Turton all had images accepted.

Let’s try and build on these successes next year.

Well done to those who received some acknowledgement of their work, commiserations to the members who didn't I know how you feel. In all the years I have entered I have only had 1 accepted. I was proud of that fact.

In all my years as YPU Exhibition Co-ordinator and then YPU President in the early years of the century, it was something to be proud of to have work accepted into the Annual Exhibition and I am sure that it is the same these days and rightly so. Those who entered and were accepted in the Exhibition knew that their work was among the best at that time and I am sure encouraged people to become better photographers which, when you think about it, is what competition is all about!

Well said Alan totally agree.
