Huddersfield Photo-Imaging Club Annual Exhibition 2020

With so many physical exhibitions being cancelled and postponed, Huddersfield Photo-Imaging Club’s delayed Annual Exhibition 2020 may well be Yorkshire’s only club photography exhibition held this year.

It is being staged as part of Kirklees Council’s Temporary Contemporary creative programme in a shop in the town centre only a stone’s throw from our usual venue, Huddersfield Art Gallery (where the YPU 2017 exhibition took place). The club’s best work will be on display with 140 prints and a rolling television show of 75 images on certain days through September and October. The shop unit is next to Toyland, Piazza Shopping Centre, Princess Alexandra Walk, Huddersfield HD1 2RS.  We’re intending to open two days a week, Thursdays and Saturdays from 10th September to 17th October. In attendance will be two of our club members. They will be the ones in the visors.    Please note as this constitutes a gallery, face coverings will be required by visitors.

Stop press – Confirmed opening dates Thurs 10th Sept, Sat 12th Sept, Thurs 17th Sept and Sat 19th Sept all 11am to 4pm.Other dates will be published on the front page of our website: www.huddersfieldpic.org.uk

Bishopthorpe Camera Club - Zoom Meeting: Bill Ward: Away from the Limelight

 Thursday 17 September, 7.30pm

Advertising executive turned actor Bill Ward will be known to TV and theatre aficionados, perhaps especially through his roles in Coronation Street, Emmerdale, The Bill and Heartbeat. Less well known is Bill’s lifelong affair with photography and its role as a counterbalance to the intensity of acting.

Bill is a Pentax Ambassador and his photography has won many awards including the Adobe Prize in the 2015 UK Landscape Photographer of the Year and the Best Seascape in the 2019 Scottish Landscape Photographer of the Year. Bill has held several solo exhibitions of his work and has a permanent collection in the Mick Oxley Gallery in Craster in his native Northumberland.

Bill’s award-winning landscapes reflect the emotions he experiences during his communes with nature. He is particularly drawn to water and his images convey a sense of peace. As you might expect from an actor Bill is an articulate communicator and will share with us what fuels his passion for making outstanding images.

Bill is kindly donating a print for us to raffle with the draw being made on the evening. Details will be made available nearer the event.

Check out Bill’s photographic work on his website, and the BCC website https://bishopthorpecc.co.uk/events/zoom-meeting-bill-ward-away-from-the-limelight/

Visitors and members of other clubs are welcome to attend (£5).

An invitation from Norwich and District Photographic Society

For £10 (to the end of December) we invite you to become an e-member of the Norwich and District Photographic Society and join us in enjoying presentations from some of the finest photographers in the UK (and occasionally from further afield).

For NDPS, locking down translated as opening up.  Whilst physical restrictions curtailed the normal activities of the club, e-activities using social media platforms, skype and zoom flourished.

If interested, please find e-membership details on our NDPS.info website or contact Tom Watson (Chair) or Paul Cowcher (membership secretary) through our email address ndps.infocus@gmail.com
